The Design of our India Tartan

The tartan combines the colours of the Indian Flag with the Scottish Saltire producing a vibrant plaid which has been used for kilts, saris, salwar kameez, shawls, suits, accessories and wrapping paper. All of our tartan is woven locally with 100% British wool, and can be ordered by the metre or half metre. We can also create a bespoke India tartan product for you. Choose from a wide range which includes kilts, shawls, ties, cosmetic bags and more. They will be handmade in our workshop in the South of Scotland.

The Story behind our India Tartan

First woven in 2010, in time for the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi that year, and then registered ahead the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow in 2014. The Spirit of India Tartan was launched ahead of the games for a range of charity events hosted by Scottish Hindu and Sikh Communities in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Over the last 9 years it has raised £21k for health charities in Scotland and India.
